Making sweet music for your ears

As we ease into summer, one of the biggest names in the international dance music industry is joining forces with the hottest, coolest hotels in South Africa to bring punters the sweetest nightlife experience of their lives.

Hed Kandi (London, Ibiza) and Protea Hotel Fire & Ice! in Cape Town and Melrose Arch are both major players in their respective areas of expertise; one providing the sexy soundtrack for a memorable night out on the town, the other synonymous with the ultra chic and trendy environment which is perfect for setting the mood and tone for that party of a lifetime.

Each week an international DJ from the Hed Kandi stable will jet in to play residencies at top local clubs after exclusive warm-up sets at Protea Hotel Fire & Ice! Names like Andy Daniels (September 16/17), Glen Horsborough (September 23/24) and Greg Myers on September 30 and October 1, along with a supporting Hed Kandi DJ, will be spinning their magic at Protea Hotel Fire & Ice! Melrose Arch on Fridays, and Cape Town on Saturdays from 6pm till 10pm. There is no cover charge for these warm-up events.

The sets will be chilled and sophisticated, laying down deep sultry lounge beats as foreplay for what is to come later. Guests will loosen their inhibitions with something sweet and refreshing from the extensive and creative cocktail lists for which the Protea Hotel Fire & Ice! is renowned, or one (or two) of the famous alcohol-infused grown-up milkshakes.

Later, the plan is for everyone to travel to the club in convoy with the international star. “We will ensure all pre-clubbers are allocated VIP access to the main event,” says Llloyd Cornwall from Hed Kandi. In addition, guests staying at Protea Hotel Fire & Ice! Cape Town will get complimentary VIP access to The Fez, where Hed Kandi is holding its residency.
The superclub, which is legendary in the Mother City, has undergone many changes to accommodate this global phenomenon. “Production levels of this magnitude have never been experienced before in SA club history” says director Tom Pearson Adams.

Lloyd adds: “Following many exceptional years hosting events at El Divino, Ibiza, and at some of the world’s greatest cities, we will now be embarking on a new adventure to take the party to a brand new country with a brand new level of clubbing.”
