The  Protea Hotel Kruger Gate's new pool deck bar overlooks the Sabie River, perfect for game viewing. Location

Protea Hotel Kruger Gate, only 100m from the Paul Kruger Gate of the Kruger National Park in Mpumalanga, is a 30 minute drive from Hazyview or an easy 5.5 hours drive from Johannesburg. Situated on the banks of the Sabie River, the hotel is an affordable luxury getaway with resort facilities catering for the whole family.

Alternatively, fly into KMIA (Kruger Mpumulanga International Airport) where you can either be collected or hire a car.

Directions from KMIA (Kruger Mpumulanga International Airport)

1. At the airport exit, turn right and follow that road.
2. At the first stop street, turn left, and follow that road until you reach the R40 leading to White River.
3. Follow R40 to White River and then on to Hazyview
4. At Hazyview, turn right at the second 4-way stop, into Paul Kruger Road
5. Follow the road for 43km, the Protea Hotel Kruger Gate will be on the left hand side, Kruger Gate entrance directly in front.

1. Explore the experience that is the Kruger National Park by going on a walking trail with an expert guide, or a game drive in the wild. Night game drives can also be arranged. This luxury Lodge also offers guided bush tours with rangers within the Hotel's 100 ha private game reserve.
2. A birdwatchers' paradise, the Protea Hotel Kruger Gate offers GUESTS opportunities to spot a variety of species on the doorstep, including waking at dawn to the cry of the fish eagle, while several hides allow for close-up viewing.
3. Other nearby attractions are made up by the "The Panorama Route". This route includes such natural wonders as the Blyde River Canyon, God's Window, Three Rondawels, Bourke's Luck Potholes and Wonder View. The nearby historic towns of Pilgrim's Rest and Graskop are also well worth a visit.
4. For a once in a lifetime golfing experience book a round at the Skukuza Golf Course which is actually set within the Kruger National Park so GUESTS need not venture far.
5. Leisure and teambuilding activities can be facilitated within the Sabie area. Activities on offer include include quad-biking, white water rafting and hot air ballooning. It is also possible to go abseiling in Hazyview, just 43km away.
6. The Moholoholo Cultural Centre, a shelter for injured game animals, is well worth a visit. The nearby Shangana Cultural Village and market offers a glimpse into local culture.
