Protea Hotel Vineyard Estate’s relaxed and stylish 95-seater restaurant will keep you well-nourished during your stay. Typically open for breakfast and dinner, the restaurant is available as a venue for your event lunch as well.

For breakfast we offer you extensive choices from our hot and cold buffet. There is something for everyone, including delicious healthy options. Breakfast is served from 06h30 until 10h30 on weekdays and until 12h00 on weekends and public holidays.

Weekly evening specials are now available from 18h00 – 22h00, which include a glass of house wine per person. Bookings are essential.

Pool & Terrace

At the heart of Protea Hotel Vineyard Estate is our pool Terrace. Warm, sunny and sheltered, it boasts a large swimming pool surrounded by chilled, scattered seating and funky sun loungers. Luxuriant greenery surrounds the area providing a laid-back space for after-work drinks and snacks – including some of the best wood-fired pizzas in the area.

 Bar Lounge

The pool area spills out from a warm and vibey bar and lounge area. Scattered seating, a cosy fireplace in winter and cool tunes make the bar and lounge perfect for after work drinks or to carry on an important business conversation.
The four training rooms and business alcoves adjoin the bar and lounge, letting you use the area as a chill-out zone during a function or for breakaway sessions.
A wide bar menu compliments our refreshing cocktails, beers or a glass of wine from a local wine farm.
In addition, you are welcome to order morning tea or coffee with decadent pastries in both the bar and lounge area, or on the pool terrace.

Wine tasting

Protea Hotel Vineyards Estate is located, as the name suggests, on the Durbanville wine route and in the middle of D’Aria Wine Estate’s vineyards. We’d be mad not to showcase some of the area’s award-winning wines. Known for its cool-climate Sauvignon Blancs, Durbanville’s wineries produce a range of delicious wines – something for everyone’s palate. On arrival, you will have the opportunity to taste local wines in our reception area while you check in. We’ll also be holding regular wine tasting events throughout your stay and can incorporate a wine & chocolate pairing into your event.

Location

Situated 25 kilometres, 20 minutes from the city of Cape Town, and just off the N1 national road, the Bellville-Tyger Valley-Durbanville area is a thriving alternative business district. Home to well-known South African entrepreneur (and astronaut) Mark Shuttleworth’s operations the area is a hot bed for both the technology and financial services sectors. Protea Hotel Vineyards Estate is adjacent to The Vineyards Office Estate and five minutes from Santam, Metropolitan and Sanlam Investment Management, with Vodacom, the T-Systems data centre and SARS across the highway in Bellville.

A complimentary shuttle service is available from Protea Hotel Vineyards Estate to the main office parks and shopping centres in the area.

The Cape Town International Airport is only 17 km away and the hotel is centrally located to easily access Paarl, Somerset West, Century City, V&A Waterfront, Cape Town CBD as well as the Cape Town International Convention Centre (CTICC).

To reach the hotel from the airport:
• Exit south from the airport, keep left at the fork.
• Turn right toward Airport Approach Rd.
• Take the 1st left onto Airport Approach Rd.  
  Merge onto N2 Rd/Settlers Way via the ramp to Cape town.
• Take exit 9 to merge onto M5 toward N1/Milnerton.
• Take the exit on the right onto N1 toward Paarl.
• Take exit 20 for M16/Mike Pienaar Boulevard toward Jip De Jager Laan/Jip De Jager Avenue.
• Turn left at Jip De Jager Drive /M16 until you reach the T-junction at the very end of this road.
• The hotel is on the left, just before Vineyards Office Estate.

Attractions

The area is a shopping mecca with established Tyger Valley Shopping Centre and luxurious Willowbridge Shopping Centre, including the Barnyard Theatre, both located five minutes from Protea Hotel Vineyards Estate. N1 City and Canal Walk Shopping Centres are less than 15 minutes away, for the true shopaholics to enjoy. 

Despite the growing corporate and retail activities, the area is wonderfully lush and green, home to some of Cape Town’s more upmarket residential suburbs, Durbanville and Tygerberg nature reserves, as well as the Magic Forest walking and mountain bike trail.

A short cut through the winelands takes thrill seekers to the famous kite-surfing and surfing beaches at Blouberg, Big Bay and the rest of the West Coast. A choice of Durbanville and Bellville golf courses, as well as Bells Academy driving range and Virgin Active gym provides the sporty with enough activity to keep them occupied.

The Durbanville wine route is one of the Cape’s oldest farming areas. It is home to nine wineries – many estates winning awards for the superb cool-climate Sauvignon Blanc produced in the area. Red wine fans should look out for Durbanville’s Shiraz and Merlot. The wine route also offers an excellent choice of restaurants ranging from country kitchen to fine dining. Regular events include farmers markets, concerts and picnics. And of course Protea Hotel Vineyards Estate itself is surrounded by the D’Aria Wine Estate’s vineyards.

If it’s nightlife you are after, the buzzing Tyger Valley Waterfront and Edward Street will keep you entertained with cocktails and music. Buena Vista Social Club and Westwoods are local favourites. For those travelling with the family, Cool Runnings Toboggan Track, Ratanga Junction Theme Park, ten-pin bowling, ice skating and putt-putt mini golf are just a few of the attractions to keep everyone busy.

The 32m² rooms are comfortable and stylishly furnished in keeping with the winelands location. Earth-tones, marble and natural fibres calm the senses to create a tranquil retreat from the hubbub of a busy working day.

The rooms comprise of 20 x standard, 8 Deluxe and 1 Superior room. The Deluxe rooms offer private wooden deck balconies with patio furniture to ensure you relax after your busy day. Our Superior room offers a corner comfort with stand-alone Victorian bathtub and laminated floors, ideal for the VIP stay or even the honeymoon couple.
