PROTEA HOTELS MOST RECOGNISED HOTEL GROUP IN SOUTH AFRICA

Cape Town, 30 July 2009: Protea Hotels is the number one hotel brand and the second most recognised tourism brand in South Africa amongst domestic and overseas tour operators. This is according to a survey that was conducted in association with South African Tourism Services Association (SATSA).

Over 100 tour operators locally and from Europe and North America participated in the marketing index survey that was measured by SA Tourism Update.

“South Africa is a long-haul destination and in light of the World Cup football coming up, we are honoured to be acknowledged by local and international tour operators as the most recognized hotel group, as shown by the survey results,” said Danny Bryer, Group Marketing and Revenue Director, Protea Hotels, “This further entrenches the confidence we have in Protea Hotels in terms of being prepared for the tournament and are glad that the perception of our hotel group is the most favourable amongst tour operators who I am confident will assist in making out brand first choice for tourists in the build up to 2010 and beyond.”

The results will be officially presented to delegates at the SATSA conference in Cape Town in August.
