The 51 000 capacity Loftus Versveld Stadium is one of the oldest in South Africa and is home to the Super 14 rugby team, the Blue Bulls and local football teams, Mamelodi Sundowns and SuperSport United. Built in 1923 in the centre of Pretoria, the stadium has hosted a number of important sports contests over the years including the 1995 Rugby World Cup, the 1996 CAF African Cup of Nations and the 2009 Confederations Cup. It has recently enjoyed an upgrade in time for the World Cup 2010.
